Sir Prize Apple
The apple is a cross between Golden Delicious and PRI 14-152. The variety was developed in collaboration between Pudue University, Rutgers University and the University of Illinois in the United States in 1975.
The tree grows rapidly. It is resistant to scab (Vf gene) and powdery mildew, but is very susceptible to fire blight. The variety is triploid and thus a poor pollinator.
The fruit is large and greenish yellow. The skin is thin and the apple gets easy bruising. The flesh is crisp and juicy. At maturity it is sweet-tart and aromatic.
Is an apple of good quality and a good garden variety that can be stored for long.
